TULA-IMPORTANT FATHERLAND OF HOMELAND AND ARMY FOR SMILE

On the eve of the 860th anniversary of the City in Tula, the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Historical Tula: Past and Present" is held. It is noteworthy that this remarkable date will be celebrated jointly on such jubilees as the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Demidov metallurgical plant and the 250th anniversary of the Russian samovar, of national importance.

Tula, one of the oldest Russian cities, left a significant mark in the history of Russia, its economic and cultural development.

But the deserved glory to her brought first of all achievements in the field of creating weapons, the exploits of her inhabitants in the harsh years of the war. It is not for nothing that Tula has a high title of "Hero City1".

Even the names of our streets: Bayonet, Kurkovaya, Dulnaya, Stvolnaya-say that our city has always been an arsenal and a shield of Russia.

In the middle of the tenth century, at the mouth of a quiet rivulet of Tulitsa, barely perceptible among oak forests and birches, a fortification of the century appeared in its place, a wooden fortress-prison was built. It served as the basis for the city of Tula, which became a border post between the Ryazan and Moscow principalities. In those days, the young city was repeatedly subjected to raids by nomads.

After the historic Battle of Kulikovo, when Dmitry Donskoi established new boundaries about Ryazan, Tula moved to Moscow.

Since 1503 the history of our city is closely intertwined with the fate of the future capital of the Fatherland, and Tula begins to play a significant role in the defense of the southern borders of the Russian state.

In the depths of the distant sixteenth century lie the origins of the Tula arms business, the birth of which was a vital necessity for a young country.

After the collapse of the Golden Horde, the Crimean Khanate was formed, and the Krymchaks, supported by the Sultan of Turkey, constantly attacked the Russian lands.

For the sake of the state's savings, Grand Duke Vasilii turn Tula into a fortress and make it the center of the entire defensive system on the southern borders.

After the construction of the Kremlin in 1621, Tula really herds such a "lock", the key to which could not be picked up by Din foreign conqueror.
